What should I look for when buying an EMS suit?
Brand-neutral checklist — the things that actually matter, whoever makes it:
• FDA clearance (in the US) — a basic safety and marketing baseline. Note “cleared” isn’t the same as “approved,” and no EMS device is cleared for weight loss.
• Electrode coverage — pads over all the major muscle groups you care about, positioned well.
• Per-muscle intensity control — turning areas up and down independently is a big deal for comfort and results.
• Wired vs. wireless — freedom of movement vs. cost and reliability (there’s a whole thread on this).
• Ongoing costs — does it need a subscription to work? Factor that in.
• Fit & sizing — sized to your measurements; good contact is everything.
• Warranty & parts — what’s covered, and can electrodes and batteries be replaced?
We keep this board brand-neutral, so share the criteria and your experience rather than hard selling. What are you weighing up?
