What exercises should I do during an EMS session?
Keep it light and controlled — the impulse is doing the heavy lifting, so you’re adding movement, not grinding out a hard workout.
Good staples: bodyweight squats, lunges, glute bridges, standing presses or punches, rows, and core holds like planks. Slow, deliberate reps that match the impulse rhythm work best — contract as the pulse fires, relax between.
What to avoid: heavy weights, explosive or max-effort lifts, and anything where losing control would be risky. You’re not trying to fatigue the muscle with load; you’re giving it something to do while it’s already being stimulated.
Most guided sessions are basically a light full-body circuit for about 20 minutes. On your own, a simple rotation of squat / press / row / core through the session is plenty.
